The Healthy Congregations Recognition program, recognized Kansas United Methodist congregations for their efforts to nurture, reach out and educate through ministries of health, healing and wholeness. For 2009, the Recognition program has been superseded by the new Healthy Congregations Covenant program, with a simplified, new approach to foster greater participation and results. The Healthy Congregations Hall of Fame serves as an archive of the historic Recognition program. We hope you'll find it interesting and join us in the new Healthy Congregations Covenant program.

2000 Wesley UMC, Parsons, youth held a Paint Parsons project -- a five day "camp" to paint five worn-down houses in the community. The youth paid $100, in addition to volunteering their services, to cover the cost of equipment and food. Local restaurants and businesses donated food and supplies as well. Nearly 100 people, including 50 youth, painted the houses, then proceeded to do volunteer clean-up work after a tornado that damaged the area.
