The Healthy Congregations Recognition program, recognized Kansas United Methodist congregations for their efforts to nurture, reach out and educate through ministries of health, healing and wholeness. For 2009, the Recognition program has been superseded by the new Healthy Congregations Covenant program, with a simplified, new approach to foster greater participation and results. The Healthy Congregations Hall of Fame serves as an archive of the historic Recognition program. We hope you'll find it interesting and join us in the new Healthy Congregations Covenant program.

Year Highlighted Activities
1999 Faith UMC, Parsons, is becoming known as a church that cares about the elderly thanks to a program started in 1999 that serves free meals to senior citizens in the community each week. Just Another Tuesday, with an average of 80 participants and 30 volunteers each week, is being expanded to include programs on health education, cooking, hymn singing, and other topics. The title of the program came from a homeless man who spoke to youth on a mission trip telling them that what people like him need is for Christians to learn to care for no other reason than "It's Just Another Tuesday."
