Health Fund President Kim Moore inducted into Southwestern College Hall of Fame

Hutchinson, Kansas -- Health Fund President Kim Moore was recently honored with an induction into the inaugural class of the Southwestern College Leaders in Service Hall of Fame for the Social Sciences. The Leaders in Service Hall of Fame was established to honor alumni and friends who have shared significant achievements in the social sciences.

Candidates for induction are selected based on a high degree of professional achievement in the social sciences, as exemplified by tenure, leadership position, board membership, publications, graduate degrees, firm partnerships, and sacrificial service, among other criteria. Hall of Fame members are chosen from a pool of nominations forwarded by alumni and friends of the college.

Moore, class of '71, was inducted into the Hall of Fame at an evening ceremony on the Southwestern College campus which kicked off this year's expanded Founders Day weekend, an event which included the recognition of inductees into five Southwestern College halls of fame. "Founders Day 2009 at Southwestern College was a celebration unlike any others in the college's 124-year history," said Susan Lowe, Southwestern's director of alumni programs. "The halls of fame are always a wonderful opportunity to lift up outstanding Moundbuilders and recognize them for their lifetime of accomplishments. This year, with the two new halls, we were especially honored to be able to pay tribute to some of the cornerstone members from Southwestern whose legacy continues on."

Moore has headed the Hutchinson-based United Methodist Health Ministry Fund since its inception. The mission of the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund is “Healthy Kansans through cooperative and strategic philanthropy guided by Christian principles.” Its funding comes from a $30 million endowment established in 1986 by the Kansas West Conference of the United Methodist Church from a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Wesley Hospital in Wichita. Since the Health Fund’s founding, grants totaling over $50 million have supported hundreds of health-related projects in Kansas.
